Report of International Seminar on LEDs, Display, and Lighting 2007
Running concurrently with International LED EXPO & FPD KOREA 2007, ISLDL 2007 consisted of a total of 29 sessions over three days. .
Invited speakers from eight countries provided insight into the latest technologies, application markets and future potential for the LED, lighting and display industries.
Speakers included top scientists and engineers from leading manufacturers such as Samsung SDI, Osram Sylvania, and LG Phillips as well as market prognosticators from leading industry associations.
The latter included Michael Lebby, president of the Optoelectronics Industry Development Association in the US.
Commenting on future prospects for the display industry, Lebby projected ¡°Display markets are on a better than 11% compound growth trend,¡± said Dr. Lebby. ¡°And while LCDs will dominate for the near term, laser TV at the large end and OLED displays at the small end will make significant inroads.¡± He also noted that mobile projection will be a key new application segment with no obvious technology winner yet. In 10 years, 3D displays and flexible displays will be key new applications, Lebby said.
